ALVIN AHRENS
Alvin Ahrens of Stratford passed away peacefully at Stratford General Hospital on Sunday, May 29, 2016 in his 100th year.
Beloved husband of Mae Ahrens who he married on November 7, 1986. Dear father of Bill Ahrens and his family Jason (Craig), Jon (Jess), Bob Ahrens (Linda) and their family Corey (Laurie), Anita (Dana), Crystal, Doug Ahrens (Kim) and their family Amanda (Colin), Shayne (Josi), Craig (Michelle), Don Ahrens (Gaylene) and his daughter Paige and Hugh Ahrens (Gayle). He will be missed by his 16 great grandchildren. Lovingly remembered by the Fogel and Hill families and his nieces and nephews.
Predeceased by his parents Fred and Ida Ahrens, son Donald in infancy, sister Ruth Morrison (Lloyd), brothers Wilfred Ahrens (Isabella) and Harold Ahrens (Nancy).
Alvin farmed on a dairy farm at Lot 24, Concession 4 of Logan Township. He was a member of First Lutheran Church, Logan, where he served as an elder and sang in the choir. He was a former director and president of the Perth County Holstein Breeders Association, Perth Co-operative Medical Services and was an agent for South Easthope Mutual Fire Insurance Company. He also served on the Board of Directors of the Ritz Lutheran Villa. He was an avid curler and golfer.
Friends will be received at the Lockhart Funeral Home, 109 Montreal St., Mitchell on Wednesday, June 1, 2016 from 6-9 p.m. and on Thursday from 10:00 a.m. until time of funeral service at 11:00 a.m. with Rev. Timothy Teuscher officiating. Interment in Grace Lutheran Cemetery. A reception will follow at the Lockhart Reception Centre.
