Irene Wodtka (Fischbach)
IRENE WODTKA

Irene Wodtka, 81, of RR1 Shakespeare passed away at Stratford General Hospital on Saturday, November 11, 2017.

Beloved wife of the late Hans Wodtka (2015). Dear mother of Anna Wodtka (Patrick Wigfull) of Kitchener and Erica Wodtka (Jason Harvey) of RR1 Shakespeare. Dear sister-in-law of Liselotte Hinz of Germany. Dear aunt of Sherri Morden (Doug Ritchie), Scott Smith (Sylvie), and Thomas Hinz.

Predeceased by her parents William and Ordelia (Rose) Fischbach, sister Bernice Smith (Gordon), brother-in-law Bruno Hinz, and sister-in-law Herta Bahr (Erich).

Irene was born and raised in Mitchell. She was baptised and confirmed at Grace Lutheran Church and served there as church organist. As a young woman, she lived in Stratford where she worked at Griffith Saddlery. Irene and Hans were married in 1971 and lived on a small farm near Shakespeare. They later attended St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Tavistock where Irene also served as organist for many years. Above all else, Irene valued her faith and her family. She loved music and gardening and was a good and loyal friend.

Friends will be received at the Lockhart Funeral Home, 109 Montreal St., Mitchell on Wednesday, November 15, 2017 from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. and at St. Paul's Lutheran Church, 19 Wellington St., Tavistock on Thursday from 10:00 a.m. until time of funeral service at 11:00 a.m. with Rev. Daniel Kitsch officiating. A reception will follow at the Tavistock Men's Club. Interment in Grace Lutheran Cemetery, Mitchell. Memorial donations to St. Paul's Lutheran Church, Canadian Lutheran World Relief or charity of one's choice would be appreciated and may be made at LockhartFuneralHome.com.
