Obituary for Bette Clarice Edith Petrie (Robinson)

Bette Clarice Edith Petrie (Robinson)
BETTE PETRIE

Bette Clarice Edith Petrie passed away Sunday, November 5th, 2017 at home with her family around her. After being told in July of having terminal cancer Bette was still the backbone of her family speaking to, advising and preparing them for the next step in their lives. Family was of the upmost importance to Bette - from telling her “Bernie”, the love of her life, to add ingredients to a recipe, as she couldn’t physically cook anymore, to telling her son to lay off the referee, to telling her daughter to keep being the glue of the family going forward. The passion and love she had for her husband is what Hollywood movies crave for. In October she fought to celebrate their 50th Anniversary; this was phenomenal considering her odds. Her son Jamie meant the world to her as they enjoyed so many similar qualities of love and compassion. Her daughter Jennifer was more than just that, but also her best friend. They spent most of their free time doing Mother-Daughter things. The Wife, the Mom, the Momma is already missed by all however her spirit will be with them 24/7.
Whether making their favourite meal, playing a board or backyard game or yelling encouragement at one of their sporting events; “Momma” was beyond present in her five grandkids lives. Maverick, Mallory and Mason Petrie, Joey and Tyson McIntosh were her pride and joy. Do NOT cross Momma when it came to her grandkiddies. “Bette” should stand for GIVING! That was her joy, to give to others.
Born in Stratford on February 23rd, 1949 the daughter of the late William Robinson. Bette is deeply loved by her husband Barney “Bernie”, son James “Jamie” and his family Maverick (Brooke), Mallory, Mason and their mother Jackie, daughter Jennifer and her family Joseph “Joey” and Tyson. Also, survived by “The Sisters” Judy (Larry) Ebel, Linda Tuthill (Kirk), brothers Robert Robinson and the late Fred Robinson. Nicknamed “Betty Boop” by brother-in-law Dave Petrie (Linda) as well as other brothers-in-law Larry Petrie (Pam), Keith Petrie (Kim) and the late Phillip Petrie, sisters-in-law Liz Kaufman (Guy), and Cherylann Brooks. Also missed by her best friends of all time Richard and Edithe Adair, Lorne Dietrich and the late Rose Dietrich. Loved by many nieces and nephews.
A “Special Thank You” to Dr. Agnus Kluz, Dr J. Younous and the VON, especially Andy our nurse, for all of their support.
There will be no service or visitation at the request of Bette. Cremation has taken place. Condolences or donations to London Health Sciences Foundation can be made at LockhartFuneralHome.com.
